Airbnbs aren’t always the cheap, lo-fi option that they used to be. However, there are still plenty of deals to be had, and if you’re traveling with kids, or just need a kitchen, Airbnbs are often a better option than hotels. So here’s the simple way I save money when I book:
Buy Airbnb gift cards from Target. Just be sure to use your RedCard.
When you book and Airbnb using a credit card, you’ll typically get 2-3% back (if you’re using my recommended Citi Premier or Capital One Venture X). However, when you use your RedCard at Target, you’ll get 5% back. Granted, the difference between 3% and 5% isn’t huge, but if you’re dropping $1,000 or $2,000 on a big Airbnb for a week, then that 2% difference can really add up.
Plus, if you do any other Target hacks (for example, using Target Circle’s earnings games), you can further lower the cost of those giftcards.
